The collaboration between LEGO and Nintendo for the LEGO Super Mario sets have been fascinating, to say the least. The combination of classic brick-building and actual game elements has made for some very unique sets.

Being a parent is hard, but being a better parent than Kazuya Mishima from Tekken is very easy. Judging another person’s parenting skills is ordinarily off-limits, but he is such a scumbag that it is totally fair game. Let’s be real — trying to kill your son and running an international mega-corporation committing crimes against the world on a daily basis is not a great look.

His son, Jin Kazama, has had his own moral shortcomings and villainous acts of murder, but these are clearly just cries for help. We are not qualified parenting experts, but Kazuya Mishima is not qualified to be a father either, so here we are. We want to offer the martial artist some healthy suggestions of different activities he can do with Jin to make up for the years of trauma. As it stands, he is the world’s worst father, but here are 10 ways that Kazuya from Tekken could be a better dad.

Since the release of director Peter Jackson’s universally acclaimed Lord of the Rings trilogy, the beloved franchise has been a fervent part of the pop culture zeitgeist, raking in a dizzying $2.9 billion. Legend has it, if you listen closely, you can always hear the jingling of Peter’s Jackson’s rightfully earned mountain of gold coins. That mountain is likely to grow even more, now that new Lord of the Rings films are on the way. We just hope they are better than the last trilogy.

During a call discussing Warner Bros. Discovery’s Q2 2022 earnings, CEO David Zaslav dropped the bombshell announcement of a new set of films, as part of a multi-year agreement between New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Pictures, and Embracer Group AB’s Middle Earth Enterprises. The exact number of new films has not been disclosed, but it is worth noting that history shows the series has a penchant for trilogies.

That rumbling you hear is the sound of Street Fighter 6 rapidly approaching release. Zangief, everyone’s favorite Russian daddy– I mean bear– I mean wrestler is back. His grapples and wrestling moves look absolutely stone cold stunning with the game’s new graphical engine. The trailer gives us a glimpse at his Level 2 and 3 Super Arts, the Cyclone Lariat and Bolshoi Storm Buster, respectively, complete with his beloved goofy nature. Welcome back, zaddy.

When you think of Doom, you likely recall fond memories of playing through stages of ultra violence, ripping and tearing your way through until it is done. Perhaps you remember your favorite heart-pounding moments of brutality, mayhem, and carnage. However, one thing the Doom series may not commonly be thought of as is cute. Well, that is about to change, now that the next Doom game has been announced, and it is not what you would expect.

Publisher Bethesda Softworks has announced Mighty Doom, the latest installment in the franchise, created by Alpha Dog Games for mobile devices. Mighty Doom has shown itself to be a large departure from the tried-and-true first-person shooter formula of the franchise. Instead, this new mobile game will be a top-down arcade shooter, essentially in the shoot-em-up genre.

Anyone familiar with the Tekken franchise knows about Kazuya Mishima and what a terrible dad he is. Father of Jin Kazama and CEO of the Mishima Zaibatsu, with the future release of Tekken 8, you can expect to see his parental abuse and unethical business practices in stunning 4K.

Vice Chairman and President of Microsoft Brad Smith has stated in a tweet that Microsoft and Nintendo have completed negotiations and entered into a contract to bring one of the largest video game franchises to the Kyoto-based developer and publisher.

In an interesting turn of events, contingent on Microsoft’s impending buyout of Activision-Blizzard, Call of Duty will be on Nintendo hardware for at least the next decade.

When the Winnie-the-Pooh property entered the public domain in the United States in 2022, nobody expected that one of the first non-Disney uses of the property would be for an ultra gory slasher film. Well, that happened. Much less did the world think that movie would be a financial success. Well, that also happened. Having just released, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey is already a box office success, despite awful reviews.

It is generally known that in Hollywood, a movie would have to earn more than double its budget to be considered a financial success; Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey has achieved this at least ten times over. The film’s production companies Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios have not revealed the exact budget cost for the film, but they stated that it was less than $100,000, according to a report by Variety.

The PlayStation Canada Facebook and Instagram accounts are starting off February with a bang, stirring up speculation about what could be in the works for God of War Ragnarok with a mysterious new post that teased the God of War Ragnarok Fimbulwinter coming to Super Bowl LVII.

While brief, the post gives out the date of the NFL’s Super Bowl, which is always known for having important commercials, and also teases that a New Game+ update could be a part of the announcement.

10. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles initially released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2003, and it stayed there for 17 years until the Remastered Edition released on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS in 2020. The new version not only brought additional content, quality of life improvements, and a fresh coat of paint, but it also released with this snazzy new cover art featuring our heroes striking a pose in a stunning pencil drawing by the game’s Art Director Toshiyuki Itahana.

The Legend of Zelda series has been subject to copious amounts of speculation and theories for years. Specifically, the anthology format of the franchise raises the questions of how many of them intersect at varying points of the series’ history. Ever since The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past first debuted in 1991, the question of the series’ continuity came into question as it was the first game to reveal to us that there are separate incarnations of a hero named Link every time a Legend of Zelda story is told.

Since then, after Ocarina of Time, the Legend of Zelda timeline has split into three different parallel universes being the results of different outcomes. It’s strange, but it sated the cacophony of the fan theories that flooded the gaming world for so long. The Hyrule Historia, an official sort of text book/encyclopedia chronicling nearly every aspect of the franchise, seemingly put debates to rest, mapping out the canon timeline. The upcoming Breath of the Wild, however, seeks to rattle the Zelda world once again. From its atmosphere to its core gameplay, we can probably already deduce when the game will actually unfold to reach the point when Hyrule must be completely destroyed in order to stop Ganon.

Sony is not the type of video game company to just sit back and watch another corporation take its place as the top seller in the industry. At all costs, Sony delivers. With the PlayStation VR coming this October, and an array of titles revealed at this past E3, there is plenty in the pipeline to ensure the company’s success, but that’s not enough. With a new sort of console, currently codenamed PlayStation Neo, on the way, it’s only natural that they continue to up their game, even down to their controllers. With this in mind, it makes perfect sense as to why Sony just patented a new DualShock 4 controller.

A NeoGAF user by the name of Kyoufu happened upon the patent for the new controller, and it’s pretty interesting, especially considering the recent release of the Xbox One’s Elite Controller, which brought four new buttons, an altered directional pad, and various customizable settings. Suffice to say, Microsoft has released their controller with professional gaming in mind, and Sony may be taking some pointers.

Patience is a virtue, and Mario Kart 8 fans have been very patient. After Mario Kart 8 received several major DLC packs over the last couple of years, the gaming world was aglow with excellent new content to enjoy, but you can never have too much of a good thing. Since the second and seemingly final DLC pack released for the racing game in Spring of 2015, Nintendo hasn’t said a single word about bringing any more content to the game, however, one cryptic tweet may suggest otherwise:

2015 was a great year for gaming, but it wasn’t without its hurdles, as Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’s release was riddled with controversy of the internal dispute between series creator Hideo Kojima and publisher Konami. As a result, a major portion of the game’s campaign is missing, leaving the game unfortunately incomplete. There may have been even more that didn’t make it into the final product, however.

A user over at MGSForums was scouring through MGSV’s code and happened across a file that seemed to reveal a Level Editor hidden within the game. Upon examining the code a little more closely, he noticed that the line of code he found was able to alter the game world’s boundaries and memory, which is an indication of a what could be a Level Editor.

As a nice surprise, the folks over at Playtonic decided to share a nice surprise with the video game community, including the people who invested in the creation of the upcoming platformer and spiritual successor to the Banjo-Kazooie series, Yooka-Laylee. Since its inception in 2012 when former Rare employees assembled to create the game, we have seen several videos and images of the gameplay, but this is the first time Playtonic has proudly raised the curtain on the near-final product.

Playtonic starts off with revealing who the villain of Yooka-Laylee will be. The protagonists of Banjo-Kazooie, naturally Banjo and Kazooie, were constantly at odds with the wicked witch Gruntilda, so fans would likely expect to find another excellent villain at the helm of Yooka and Laylee’s obstacles. The villain of Yooka-Laylee will is named Capital B, and he’s a greedy head of an villainous corporation hellbent on stealing all of the world’s literature and turning it for profit.

Seemingly out of the blue, Hideo Kojima decided to take to Twitter to reveal the rest of the character represented in the Kojima Productions logo. The logo itself is a profile of what looks like a skeleton inside of some sort of helmet, but that’s all we’ve gotten so far… until now.

Kojima showed off a render of the character as it appears with the rest of what we now know is its suit. This character, named Ludens, sports a sort of spacesuit with an astronaut-like backpack, and it’s even holding a flag, not unlike the photographs taken of the 1969 Moon landing. Nintendo may be primarily known for their role in the video game industry, but that’s not the only market they’ve tackled. The Japanese company actually started out as a playing card company, eventually evolving into the video game giant it is today, but Nintendo now has plans to return to a different medium: cinema.

Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun scored an exclusive interview with Tatsumi Kimishima, the current President of Nintendo, who revealed that they have been working on a new movie. The article notes that they have partnered up with multiple production companies around the world, but Kimishima explained that they are trying to do a lot of the work themselves, most likely in the vein of the recent Pikmin Short Movies. This is completely understandable since the company has been extremely reserved about lending out their intellectual properties since the catastrophic Super Mario Bros. live-action movie in 1993.

On July 11th of 2015, Satoru Iwata passed away, leaving behind a legacy in the annuls of video game history that will likely continue to reverberate through the rest of time, so long as people are still making games. Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of the Super Smash Bros. and Kirby series as well as friend to Iwata, recently shared an excerpt of the last email he ever received from Iwata before his passing in Famitsu, as translated by Soma for Source Gaming:

When Splatoon first released in 2015, many people were left with the existential question of whether they were a kid or a squid. The world has largely learned to move on from pondering this question, but not for long. You are no longer safe. Nintendo has recently unveiled plans to release Splatoon items in their latest and strangest app, Miitomo.

There is a catch, however: several of the items will only become available after a certain number of retweets on Twitter with the #Miitomo_Splatoon_RT tag. Specifically, the Inkling Boy Wig will be released after 10,000 retweets and the Inkling Girl Wig is to be available after 20,000 retweets. It’s an interesting incentive to getting new items as well as enticing more people to download the app. Smart move, Nintendo.

It might come as a surprise to you that among the vast library of Mario Sports games that have released over the past several decades, not a single one has taken on American Football. Why? Well, quite frankly, there’s never been much of a reason to. As the name suggests, only America plays American Football, so there’s no guarantee that a game with Super Mario as a quarterback would sell well outside of the United States, if at all. Nevertheless, maybe that shouldn’t stop them, if the following concept art is any indication of what that game could look like.

Reddit user SyBro revealed his latest project, concept art for an idea of what a new Super Mario sports game could look like if Nintendo decided to choose football as the latest sport. Suffice to say, it looks marvelous.
