If there is anything most gamers remember about Conker, it’s that this little squirrel had one serious potty mouth—and so did everyone else he encountered. The entire Conker series is riddled with expletives and sexual content, which is rather unusual for a Rare-developed game. This the same team that brought Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong 64 to Nintendo’s family oriented Nintendo 64. To see the team create something like Conker was a surprise, but a pleasant one nonetheless. Conker curses up a storm, spends time staring at the giant jugs on a sexy sunflower and hardly appears to be sober at any point in the original game. While the game does censor some of the language, there are still plenty of curse words that are let loose without any sort of censorship. Conker is simply one adorable, down and dirty, foul-mouthed squirrel but that’s exactly what made us all fall in love with him and his cooky world in the first place.
Mafia III

The Mafia series already had a reputation for its excessive use of foul language but Mafia III’s script still stood out when compared to its predecessors. Mafia III takes players to a faux version of New Orleans during a time when racism in the region is running rampant. You can only imagine what kind of language that environment fuels. Mafia III clearly set out to have players come face to face with some of the ugliest realities of racism and when it comes to depicting just how hateful that kind of speech can be, Mafia III refuses to hold back. Mafia III’s content even fueled a bit of controversy from many players who felt uncomfortable playing the game but, in a sense, that’s exactly what it seems like the game set out to do.

Yes, the entire Mafia series never holds back on its colorful langue but there is a reason Mafia II deserves its very own spot right along its newer successor. There is one particular expletive that makes an incredible amount of appearances throughout Mafia II. More than any other curse word, Mafia II is filled with an extraordinary amount of f-bombs. There are so many f-bombs in the game that its foul-mouthed script is now sitting in the history books. In 2010, Mafia II was unofficially given the Guinness World Record for the most f-bombs featured in a single video game. Apparently the game makes use of its favorite expletive more than 200 times. The scripts were sent over to the team at Guinness for an official count but Mafia II failed to actually appear as the reining king of f-bombs. Turns out, there was another game more worthy of that title.
Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto V tosses three very different protagonists our way for a unique and fulfilling campaign but Franklin, Michael and Trevor certainly share their similarities. One of those common grounds certainly comes from the language they use when talking to, well, anyone. All three of these men have a certain affinity for four letter words that they just can’t get away from but the expletive-filled rants never feel forced. The entire case of Grand Theft Auto V tosses curse words around casually in a way that just seems fitting for this troublesome trio. Whether Franklin is arguing with his aunt, Michael is ripping his children new ones or Trevor is just being crazy, psycho Trevor, there just doesn’t seem be a better way these men can express themselves without such colorful language. Let’s face it. It wouldn’t be a Grand Theft Auto game any other way.
South Park: The Stick of Truth

South Park: The Stick of Truth does a wonderful job of adapting the world of South Park for an incredibly entertaining video game. Characters’ personalities are directly reflections of what you will find if you have watched the show, which means Cartman is busy hurling out as many curse words as he possibly can. Of course, he’s not the only one who is a fan of four letter words but he certainly is the main culprit of the vast majority of the strong language used throughout the game. Just like the animated series, however, you will struggle to find a time when the use of profanity doesn’t also immediately trigger an outburst of laughter. In the South Park series, the cursing is just as frequent as it is over the top and downright hilarious. We’re willing to bet South Park: The Fractured But Whole will follow suit this October.
Saints Row

Before Saints Row became some strange rendition of a Disney musical that featured the devil himself, it had a pretty interesting narrative following the 3rd Street Saints as they encountered rivaling gangs and a host of other various antagonists. During these days, Saints Row was filled with profanity and incredibly strong language. While the other games in the series never decide to clean up their language either, the first title certainly seems to pack the most foul language into every cut scene and piece of dialogue. It’s such an absurd amount of cursing that it becomes rather comical. Either way, don’t let any of that distract you from the fact that the story here (in the earlier games) is actually pretty good and worth paying attention to.

No More Heroes does everything except take itself seriously. It’s a fun hack and slasher built to evoke laughter with the aid of its foul-mouthed and ridiculous protagonist Travis Touchdown. The first game was riddled with tons of F-bombs and female dogs and its sequel felt no need to change that—and we’re grateful for that. The incredible amount of profanity in No More Heroes 2 is all a part of the fun because it makes the wacky situations Travis finds himself in all the more believable. All the over the top encounters just seem like things that should happen to a guy like this. Travis is a man who can’t make it through a single cutscene without dropping at least 5 expletives on a good day.
Scarface: The World Is Yours

Behold the true king of F-bombs. There have been quite a few discrepancies over at Guinness regarding which game truly featured the most. Once you crunch all the numbers, however, a few hundred F-bombs in Mafia II has nothing on Scarface: The World Is Yours. The game’s script is literally filled with the F-word and any possible derivative of it you can find. According to the Guinness World Records, Scarface: The World Is Yours drops some form of the F-word a whopping 5,688 times. If you spend just a few minutes with the game, that number certainly seems far from unbelievable. Every cut scene acts as a stage for creative ways to use the harsh four letter word but, when you’re in the world of Tony Montana what can you expect?
The Suffering

Nobody really expected a psychological horror video game to be clear of any profanity but The Suffering was one game that made sure it packed every second with strong language. Once you see how terrifying the game is, however, the profanity seems rather realistic. If you take a look at the game’s script, you’ll find more than 100 uses of the f-word along with plenty of other colorful words sprinkled all around. It’s also not shy about tossing out “female dog” either. Between the game’s gore-filled content and insane use of profanity, critics couldn’t help but point out that even a Mature rating didn’t seem realistic for a game like this. “It’s survival-horror with swears,” GameSpy’s David Hodgson wrote of the game. “It’s the proof the ESRB is kidding Congress with the non-existent “Adults Only” rating. It’s offensive, psyche-damaging, brutal, makes no sense, and is unforgiving and violent. And damn good fun.”
House of the Dead: Overkill

House of the Dead: Overkill was at the center of controversy when it was given the Guinness World Record for its foul language. House of the Dead: Overkill uses the F-bomb roughly 180 times but the fellows over at Achievement Hunter didn’t quite agree with the decision. So they counted it all up themselves and found Mafia II beat House of the Dead: Overkill by dropping more than 200 derivatives of the F-word. Once the 2011 edition of the Guinness World Records Gamers Edition was released, however, it turned out neither game was the true king of swearing. That title belonged to Scarface: The World Is Yours. Either way, anyone who has played House of the Dead: Overkill can’t argue that this game had some seriously potty mouthed characters who were more than willing to hurl a variety of expletives. If you like a lot of profanity in the game to help drown out the colorful language you’re shouting at the screen while hordes of zombies attack you, House of the Dead: Overkill has quite a bit to offer.
