The Sims 4 Infants update gave Simmers a whole new life stage — Infants, obviously. But one surprise new feature has changed the game in a big way. The ‘Have Science Baby’ interaction allows Simmers to create an even wider variety of nuclear and non-nuclear families than ever before. Wildfrost on PC

Wildfrost is a clever rogue-like deck-building battle game with a unique city-building twist. Your Leader is on a mission to bring back the Sun and tame the Wildfrost spreading across the land. Along the way, you’ll build a Town full of buildings that can unlock new Companions, Pets, and items to help you on your journey.

Overall, Wildfrost is a fun game for anyone who generally enjoys this genre. But it will demand a lot of patience for those who seek any significant progress.

Tchia on PC

Tchia’s father has been kidnapped by Maevora, an evil deity who has taken over Tchia’s homeland, and she must set out on her own to rescue him with nothing but a sailboat. Along the way, she’ll make new friends and allies, unlock and master a legendary ability – Soul Jumping – and uncover the secrets of her own mysterious past.

This game is one of my favorite games I’ve ever played for a hundred different reasons. I recommend it for anyone who likes open-world games of any kind, whether you’re an experienced, hardcore gamer or a more casual player. Keep reading to find out why.

More Realistic Newborns

Prior to the update, there was only one life stage before toddlers — Babies. That life stage is now called “Newborns,” and the devs have made a lot of quality-of-life updates for this time in every Sim’s life.

The Sims 4 Infants Update launched with only a slight delay at around 10:20 AM PT, but many EA App users can’t get into their game library at all.

Simmers who logged into the EA App to download the latest Sims 4 Base Game Update received an annoyingly coy error message that read, “Login did not go as planned. We couldn’t log you in because the network failed to do its network thing. Try again in a few minutes.”

The latest Behind the Sims Summit was a whopper, with nearly three hours of new content and gameplay. But one of the most incredible things about this live stream was learning how much new content is coming to every Sims 4 player with the Infants update on March 14, 2023. There’s more content in this free base game patch than in some of the paid Kits and Packs. Here are the top five things I can’t wait to experience in-game.

Diversity

Sim babies have always been maddeningly limited in terms of diversity and customizability. Currently, the game only has three skin tones for babies, and if one or both of the parent Sims have a custom skin tone, their babies might even change colors periodically.

Skyrim first appeared on Nov. 11, 2011, and 11 years later, I still find myself going back to it time and time again. Something about this game keeps drawing me back in, sometimes after months or even years away. Why do I keep going back to Skyrim when there have been dozens of other fantasy RPGs released in the decade-plus since the game was released?

Ultimate Free-Roaming Exploration

After over a decade of playing, I’ve still never completed the main storyline. Not ever. Not even once. Sometimes I start a new save with the best intentions, planning to chase down the central quest from start to finish. But the main quest quickly branches into several other directions, each of which splinters even further. Before I know it, I’m off in some remote corner of Skyrim searching for a lost artifact for a random NPC I encountered on my way to deliver something to the Jarl.

Blanc on PC

Blanc tells the story of two lost animals – a black wolf cub and a white fawn – separated from their families. This unlikely duo will have to work together to make it home. Following their families’ snowy footsteps, the fawn and cub make their way over frozen landscapes, through quiet towns, and across narrow icy bridges.

Along the way, they’ll explore their environment, solve puzzles, and even help other lost baby animals. This sweet little indie game is stress-free and surprisingly touching, offering cozy co-op play just in time for Valentine’s Day.

I was nine years old when Titanic first debuted in theaters. Most of the girls in my grade were obsessed with 21-year-old heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio, squealing at the lunch table about the “dirty parts” of the movie. I wanted to be like them, so I squealed, too, even though I had no idea what I was squealing about.

Unlike them, however, I couldn’t convince my parents to ignore the PG-13 rating, so I had to live with the FOMO. When I finally saw Titanic myself, all I saw was the love story – the rich heiress falls in love with the poor artist and abandons her life of luxury like a modern-day Romeo and Juliet (which Leonardo DiCaprio also starred in). It was all about the hunky headliner for me. 

By millennial standards, I was late to the Harry Potter world. A bad group project experience in high school ruined the series for me after just the second book. But when I picked it back up over one winter break in college, I was immediately obsessed, devouring the books one by one in less than three weeks.

I was always sort of an outcast growing up. It didn’t matter where I turned or how many times I changed schools – I just never seemed to fit in. So the HP universe was like a salve to my middle- and high-school trauma, reminding me that every outcast has somewhere they can belong.

When EA scheduled the latest Behind the Sims Summit to line up with a patch release, the Sims Community rumor mill started buzzing. The last BTS Summit dropped the news that a new life stage – Infants – would soon be coming to the Sims 4, and many Simmers hoped that this post-livestream update would be it.

And while we only got a due date for the arrival of Sims 4 Infants, this update did add something pretty epic – top surgery scars – making yet another huge leap forward in terms of diversity, both in The Sims and in the entire gaming industry.

Chai, the ambitious slacker who gained his musical robot abilities from a secret corporate experiment turned disaster, is voiced by Robbie Daymond. Daymond voices Dorian Storm and Mateo ‘Sandy’ Sandoval in the TV Series “Critical Role” and Peter Parker in “Spider-Man.” His video game credits include voicing Goro Akechi and Crow in “Personal 5 Royal” and Prompto Argentum and Ixal in the English version of “Final Fantasy XV.”

Tchia is on a mission to save her father, who has been kidnapped by the evil ruler Meavora. She’ll have to explore the world around her to collect unique and rare offerings for Meavora in hopes that he’ll release her father. Fortunately, Tchia has a special ability that allows her to Soul Jump into animals and objects around her, helping her navigate the tropical environment in thrilling, mind-bending ways.

Tchia is scheduled for release in early 2023 after being pushed back from its initial Spring 2022 release date. Despite the delay (or maybe because of it), Tchia is one of the most exciting open-world games I’ve played in a long time. The world is beautiful and immersive, the physics are spot-on, and there are several unique mechanics that make it unlike any other game I’ve played.

If you believe the rumor mill, the next Sims 4 Expansions Pack is a reboot of The Sims 3: Generations. That pack added weddings, high school graduations, new kids’ activities, and relationship drama to the game. With all the speculation about what might be coming, here’s what Simmers are hoping to see this year.

Improved Relationship Mechanics

Family dynamics have come a long way since the initial release of The Sims 4, but there’s still a lot more EA could do to add richness and variety to family relationships. The family tree, for example, only shows five total generations, including the current (youngest) one. This makes ongoing Legacy Challenges and multigenerational family storytelling difficult.

Create A Sim has come a long way since the days of the original Sims with only two ages, three skin tones, two genders, and five personality features. But Simmers have some big demands for The Sims 5. Here are 10 CAS features we want to see out of the next version of The Sims.

Locking Accessories, Makeup, and Hairstyles

You’ve just created a new Sim, complete with Aspirations, Traits, and a few great outfits.
