Season 4 and the Vondel Exclusion Zone brought a large number of keys into DMZ. Each was part of a wider chain but, in the mid-season Reloaded update, the chain was tweaked considerably. This is what you need to know about getting and using the Sewers Maintenance Key.
How To Get Sewers Maintenance Key in DMZ
There’s more than one way to get this particular key in Warzone DMZ. Unfortunately, there’s not currently a mission that offers the Sewers Maintenance Key as a reward. A lot of the keys can be acquired by completing specific missions but that isn’t an option here. You have to rely on looting or the preceding key in the chain. We’ve explained both below.
Looting
This is a legitimate method to acquire all of Vondel’s keys, but it’s just as unreliable for this key as it is all the others. The chances of finding a single key, much less the one you want, are very slim. The reason we’re including it is that you might find one when you’re doing other objectives and missions. In that case, stow it and exfil because it’s a mighty rare find.
Equipment Crate
Previously, the Diver’s Crate Key was the one you needed. That changed in Season 4 Reloaded though. Now, the Equipment Crate is a guaranteed method of acquiring the Sewers Maintenance Key. As you’d expect, this requires the Equipment Crate’s key, which is now attainable via the Diver’s Crate.
It’s located in map grid G6, underneath Vondel’s Museum. The best way to get to it is to actually drop down into the waterways at the back side of Museum. The image below shows you the entrance you can use, which enables you to avoid the AI in the Museum and the need for a key to get into the POI itself.
Once inside, follow the walkways to the center of the Museum (you’ll be underneath it). You should soon spot a small wooden crate on a slightly lower platform. That’s the Equipment Crate.
Even though you’ll avoid most of the AI from the Museum, keep your wits about you when you make your way to the Crate. Some AI do patrol the underground waterways and some will make their way down when your presence is known.
Either way, open it up and help yourself to the loot inside, which will include the key you’re searching for.
Where To Use Sewers Maintenance Key
Unsurprisingly, the Sewers Maintenance Key is used to open a crate that lives in Vondel’s sewers. This is still the same crate in the same location, so you need to head to map grid E5.
This is north of Stadium, northeast of Vondel Zoo and west of the Police Station. The image on the left shows its wider location within Vondel, before the image on the right shows you precisely where you need to head.
Making your way to the backside (north) of the large apartment building should reveal an open manhole underneath a large staircase. Climb down the ladder locate the Tool Box and Duffel Bag that sit at its base. The bag is locked and, you guessed it, requires the Sewers Maintenance Key to open.
Inside the duffel bag there’s fully kitted weapon, a Gold Bar and the Townhouses Apartment Key. The image above is from pre-Season 4 Reloaded, so it displays the old loot granted.
