DMZ’s key chain changed with Season 4 Reloaded and some fringe keys, like the Buoyant House one, have become much more important. Here’s how to get it and where to use it on Vondel.
How To Get the Buoyant House Key in DMZ
There’s a lot of keys in DMZ Season 4 right now. Almost all of them can be acquired in more ways than one. The Buoyant House Key fits into this category, with three legitimate means of getting hold of it. Each is listed below.
Explore & Loot
As you’d expect, it’s possible to come across the Buoyant House Key while you’re looting. It’s available in clothes, caches, bags and pretty much anything you can open and search. The downside of this method is that it’s entirely reliant on RNG. It could take you a while.
Dark Water Mission
A guaranteed way to earn the Buoyant House Key is to complete the Dark Water Mission in the Phalanx Faction. It’s a Tier 3 Mission, meaning there’s a few objectives to it and it’s not the simplest of missions to work your way through.

- Find and Extract the Cartel Laptop From the Warehouse

Stage Bag
Another guaranteed method of getting this key is to open either Stage Bag. These bags are located around Vondel, with one to the northwest of University.
You’ll require the Stage Bag Key to get inside, which has been the most in demand key for some time because of the fact the bags also reward openers with a guaranteed GPU. The location of the first is shown in the image below, in map grid E2.
You’re searching for a Duffel Bag at the back of the stage. It’ll be easy to spot when you’re nearby.
The second is located in Vondel’s west, just north of the Fire Department. You’re searching for an identical stage and bag, this time in map grid C5.
This second one is typically harder to reach, with there being a lot of enemy AI stationed in the vicinity. Ensure you head over there with armor and healing items to avoid being caught short.
Where To Use the Buoyant House Key
The House itself, where you use the key, is located in map grid C7 and is a floating house patrolled by enemy AI. The image below shows it highlighted on the Vondel map, within the Floating Districts POI and map grid C7:
There are usually enemies patrolling the area to the north of the house, so we found success in taking a boat and reaching it from the south. There were less AI to combat and we were able to loot up in the quieter areas.
The image below shows you how it looks in-game. There’s an entrance around the back, requiring players to access a walkway:
Inside there’s a few orange crates to work through and, upstairs, the Veterinarian Key. This’ll unlock the Animal Care Room in the Zoo POI, which is crucial to completing the Researcher’s Dilemma mission and progressing, both in the Black Mous Faction and DMZ itself.
