The Resident Evil 4 Remake is finally among us, throwing players into the shoes of Leon S. Kennedy, who unfortunately finds himself searching for the President’s daughter in a creepy village somewhere in Europe. There’s a lot of hype around this remake, and for good reason, as Resident Evil 4 is arguably considered one of the greatest games of all time in survivor-horror circles.

With the Dead Space Remake serving up a proper demonstration of how to craft a remake, Capcom is stepping up to the plate to prove this remake is more than just an HD coat of paint. Good news for returning fans or newcomers, there’s plenty here to prove the previous sentiment. With that in mind, here are eight things to know before playing the Resident Evil 4 Remake.

The second iteration of Warzone has seen quite a few changes to its design philosophy, causing a divide among the various members of the community. One of the most notable ones has been the change to how snipers work in Warzone 2, with the potential to one-shot having been completely removed.

It doesn’t look like a change to that design philosophy is coming anytime soon, but as teased on the Season 2 patch notes, it seems that a Saint Patrick’s themed game mode may see one-shot snipers return to some extent.

Last year, Tango Gameworks released the team’s latest project, Ghostwire: Tokyo, a Doctor Strange x Bleach-esque take on Tokyo involving ghosts and finger guns. Unfortunately, many fans missed out on the opportunity to play the game since it was a one-year timed exclusive for PS5 and Windows. Today, publisher Bethesda Game Studios has announced the game will be coming to Xbox Game Pass next month.

The news comes via a press release sent to Twinfinite, and was shared via the official Bethesda Twitter account in which it was revealed Ghostwire: Tokyo will be heading to Xbox consoles for the first time on April 12 via Game Pass. That’s not all; Bethesda has also announced a new update that will hit the game on all platforms, titled the Spider’s Thread Update.

Bugs are a rather unfortunate part of video games, as gamers uncover new ones almost every day. Riot Games’ tac-FPS shooter, Valorant, is no stranger to the odd glitch or error, with the latest one proving to be stronger than any Initiator in the game’s playable roster.

As shared on the official Valorant Reddit channel, one player found a bug that gave off the position of the enemy team’s Skye. The player shares a video clip of it happening as the round starts, and Skye’s position is revealed before the team even turns the corner to see her.

Before the switch to a franchised format, Riot Games’ Tier 2 esports competitions were almost exclusively handled by third-party organization Nerd Street Gaming. Dozens of tournaments held by the company since 2020 have dished out tens of thousands of dollars in prize money to winning teams; except, the company hasn’t been paying, and professional Valorant players have had enough.

Nerd Street has become notorious for delaying payments to players who participated in said tournaments. M80’s Marc-Andre “NiSMO” Tayar has today called out both Nerd Street and Riot Games to get a solution immediately, with his team still owed “20 or 25K” in prize money.

The Call of Duty franchise has changed significantly over the past few years, with Warzone becoming a core tenet of the franchise’s success. However, one of the more underappreciated entries didn’t come from Activision directly; aside from publishing duties, it came from TiMi Studio Group and Tencent in the form of the free-to-play Call of Duty: Mobile.

With the acquisition of Activision by Microsoft looming over the gaming world, the latter conglomerate has been expressing all of its plans for Activision, with Call of Duty: Mobile seemingly playing a role in aiding the success of Warzone Mobile. According to Microsoft’s plans, the mobile entry will be replaced by Warzone Mobile when it arrives at some point in 2023.

Not many games have the staying power that Red Dead Redemption 2 does, where constant memes and mods surface almost weekly on the internet. The latest mod features an abnormally large Arthur Morgan and highlights how his large and in-charge form saves his life.

YouTuber Paradise385 put together a YouTube short, and in this alternate version of Red Dead Redemption 2, Arthur Morgan sees himself on trial at the hands of Dutch van der Linde, with his last words being a cry for food. Dutch issues the call to execute Arthur, but being large has its benefits, as his life is spared due to the rope not being strong enough to carry him.

Just like that, in a blink of an eye, the inaugural tournament of Valorant’s 2023 season is over, with 32 teams battling in São Paulo, Brazil for the trophy. After a month of grueling matches, EMEA powerhouse Fnatic has claimed the trophy, restoring the region to its glory, while granting EMEA an extra slot for Masters Japan.

As with most of the big Valorant tournaments, all eyes turn to the crowdfunding opportunities Riot Games presents the fan base. The LOCK//IN bundle served up quite a few stylish looks, and after the bundle sale ended, Riot revealed final sales have led to over $10 million going to the 32 teams that participated in LOCK//IN.

As reported by George Geddes of Dot Esports, former Sentinels starter turned substitute, Hunter “SicK” Mims has found himself in jail. This follows an incident with a local car dealership as SicK refused to leave the premises.

The news of the incident comes days after SicK tweeted out that he was at the dealership in question. In a deleted video, SicK could be heard arguing with employees at said dealership, which ultimately led to his appearance in jail. He’s being charged with a Class B misdemeanor, and he has yet to be released from prison, according to Dot Esports, with a fine of up to $2000 or a jail term of 180 days serving as his punishment.

Redfall is the next big project from Arkane Studio, the heads behind Dishonored and Deathloop, throwing players into a mashup of Left 4 Dead and vampires in the quaint town of Redfall, Massachusetts. 

With Redfall rapidly approaching its May 2023 launch, the developers behind the upcoming first-person shooter took the time to answer some fans’ burning questions. The Q&A session took place on the official Discord server and revealed a ton of juicy details to keep the hype rising.

Sons of the Forest – Early Access on PC

Only a few minutes into Sons of the Forest and I’ve survived a fiery helicopter crash, tumbled down a snowy mountainside, and am now being pursued by a group of natives running at the speed of light, drenched in war paint, screaming at the top of their lungs. Ah, flashbacks from the first game, and I’ve suddenly remembered this journey is certainly not for the faint of heart.

I’m excited, though. After an extended cycle looking to surpass what the development team Endnight Games cooked up over the span of ten years, the anticipated sequel is finally here. And by now, you’ve probably seen the headlines of how popular Sons of the Forest is, racking up an insane 24-hour debut on Steam with 2 million copies sold. After nearly a week with the game myself, I can see why.

Hogwarts Legacy has been doing the rounds since it was released nearly a month ago, as Avalanche Software has seemingly cracked the code on recreating a fantastic, magical world that rivals the world of Harry Potter. Nearly every review and opinion of this iteration of the Wizarding World has been positive, with fans begging for more content and magic to digest.

Despite the praise, players have been quick to point out Hogwarts Legacy‘s flaws, with the titular review series Zero Punctuation “cleanly” serving up a review that many have agreed with. Sharing their review to Reddit, one fan took to going the extra mile with their frustration, stating their playthrough was highlighted by their character’s nature of solving every puzzle for them, whether they wanted help or not.

After a long wait, Sons of the Forest is finally here, throwing a new wave of players into the survival-horror trenches to fight off hangry cannibals on a deserted island. Much like the previous game, The Forest, the protagonist crash lands on the said island with no idea what’s going on and must bust out every tool of the trade to survive.

Again, much like the first title, it appears that the opening crash landing sequence is different for everyone. Players in the game’s Steam community have shared their varying introduction sequences leading to three different starting points.

Despite the PSVR2 launching just a few days ago, Sony is showing no sign of slowing down the support for the second iteration of the headset. With an already impressive library of titles, GoodbyeWorld Games will be bringing its award-winning title, Before Your Eyes, to the PSVR2.

Before Your Eyes is set to hit PSVR2 this March, and fair warning, the tears will be plentiful as GoodbyeWorld Games’ title will tear at heartstrings. Inspired by the 1949 stage play, Death of a Salesman, players control the recently deceased Benjamin Brynn and experience his life through his memories.

A little over four years ago, developer Mundfish revealed the team’s latest project: Atomic Heart. Set in an alternate timeline (not inspired by the Marvel Multiverse), the USSR made major strides in technology, introducing synthetics and creating the “perfect society.” Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper video game if everything went well, and everything does indeed fall apart as the robots rebel and throw the Soviet Union into chaos.

The reveal trailer captivated millions as it oozed absolute mechanical chaos, with snippets showcasing a blend of Bioshock and NieR: Automata elements as the protagonist fights off bloodthirsty automatons and travels through the depths of hell looking for answers. Each subsequent trailer built up the levels of promise Atomic Heart could reach, with the addition of Mick Gordon to round out the soundtrack and a Game Pass Day One addition serving as the icing on the proverbial cake.

After a few years of delays and setbacks, Mundfish’s Atomic Heart is finally here, throwing players into an alternate take on history where synthetics take over the USSR, causing mayhem and misery. Players assume the role of Major P-3, a chatty protagonist who must uncover the cause of the issue and fend for himself amidst the impending doom.

As Atomic Heart has been released and reached the public, it seems that Major P-3 is way more vocal than most of the player base could’ve anticipated. Much of the talk track has been downright critical of his lines and even the overall dialogue in Atomic Heart, as it comes off as “cringey,” at least in the English dub. 

Valorant is slowly creeping up on its third anniversary, with quite the set of accomplishments for Riot Games’ first foray into the tac-shooter scene. 2023 alone is starting with a bang, as 32 of the best teams in Valorant’s competitive franchised structure are duking it out for the crown in Brazil, with Harbor and Lotus making their debut.

The hype doesn’t stop there either, as Character Producer on Valorant, John Goscicki, is teasing that more agents are inbound. This year, Riot Games intends to add three new agents: an Initiator, a Sentinel, and a third whose identity will remain behind closed doors, for now. Players even get a brief snippet of what appears to be the next agent, Valorant’s twenty-second playable character.

It may be hard to believe, but this year marks the beginning of the eighth year of support for Ubisoft’s live-service tac-FPS monster, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. Siege isn’t slowing down any time soon, it seems, as with Operation Commanding Force, Year 8 Season 1 looks to start with a bang from Brazil, introducing a new operator, changes to reloading, and much more.

Let’s kick things off by talking about Brava, the new Operator, who will join the massive playable roster of attackers. Hailing from Brazil, she’s an expert technician with the hacking skills to match and a lively personality compared to some of her peers. She’ll be joining Hibana’s squad of Operators, titled Viperstrike, with enemy electronics falling prey to Brava’s Kludge Drone.

After a less-than-stellar year in the trenches of World War 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II was supposed to be different. It was meant to signal the glorious return to a modern-day setting spearheaded by Infinity Ward, the same team that brought 2019’s smash hit, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. 

Modern Warfare II launched in November and ran up huge numbers, raking in huge opening weekend numbers, despite lacking a noticeable amount of content and features that are series staples. That last bit doesn’t matter because this year’s CoD will be supported for two years, meaning Infinity Ward will have time to fix everything and keep the player base happy for twenty-four months while Treyarch works on the next entry, right?

If we’re being honest, it’s nothing short of amazing how fast Naughty Dog’s masterpiece, The Last of Us, has managed to recreate the same success it found back in 2013, this time in the form of a television show. You probably have seen it already or have heard through the grapevine, but each new episode reaches an absurdly high new milestone, with the fourth episode seeing a 17% increase in viewership over the third, according to Variety. 

What makes this journey so interesting is all the odds seemed to be stacked against the show, as The Last of Us Part II shattered the fanbase, and video game to televised media has a track record of floundering horrendously, no offense to The Witcher or Halo. Yet, here we are singing a different tune, as a lore change, and Pedro Pascal ditching one child for another has done wonders for the televised series.
